Kingston upon Thames sits on a bend of the river in south-west London, with Richmond Park on one side, Hampton Court on the other, and the Surrey countryside a short drive away. It is a borough where a town centre wedding and a day in the open air are never far apart. We photograph and film both, with one team.
Our studio in Beckenham is a straightforward drive across south London, and the whole borough, from Surbiton and New Malden to Chessington, is well within our travel radius.
Because the borough is compact, a Kingston wedding rarely needs long journeys between each part of the day. That leaves more time for the things that matter on film: the speeches, the first dance, and the quiet ten minutes you spend together while your guests find their seats. Roads over Kingston Bridge and through the town centre can still be slow on a Saturday, so we allow extra time either side.
Getting married in Kingston
Civil ceremonies in the borough are held at the Guildhall in Kingston, a short walk from the river and the old market place. The riverside and the market streets make an easy, relaxed setting for portraits straight after the ceremony. Rules on photography and filming vary between register offices, so we check with yours before the day. See our pages on civil ceremonies and intimate weddings.
Popular venues nearby include Hampton Court Palace, just across the river, and Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park, a Georgian house with views towards the Thames valley. Many couples also marry in local churches and then hold the reception at a riverside restaurant or a country venue in Surrey.
River, park and palace
- The Thames path. Boats, bridges and open water give soft, reflected light, especially in the hour before sunset.
- Richmond Park. Ancient oaks, long grass and deer in the distance. The park has its own rules for professional photography, which we check in advance.
- Hampton Court and Bushy Park. Tudor brick, long avenues of trees and wide open space for a quiet walk together.
Tree cover helps on a bright summer day, softening the sun and keeping skin tones even. In winter, the light goes early, so we plan outdoor portraits for the early afternoon and use the warm light of the venue indoors after that.
Weddings of every faith
Kingston and its neighbours are home to many cultures, including the Korean community in New Malden, often described as the largest in Europe, alongside Tamil, South Asian, Polish and Irish families. We cover church weddings, Hindu weddings, Sikh weddings, nikahs, Jewish weddings and fusion weddings, and we always ask each family about their own traditions before the day. For multi-day celebrations, see our page on Asian weddings.
Photo and film, together
One team covers both photography and film, so you have one plan and one set of people in the room. Photography starts from £830 and film from £1,430. See our collections, or our pages for West London, Guildford and London if your plans reach further afield.
Your questions, answered
Is travel included for a wedding in Kingston?
Yes. Travel is included within 50 miles of our studio in Beckenham, and Kingston and the surrounding area are well inside that.
Can we have portraits in Richmond Park or Bushy Park?
Often, yes. The Royal Parks have their own rules for professional photography and filming, so we check what is needed for your date and plan the timing so a short trip does not eat into your drinks reception.
Can you cover a short ceremony at the Guildhall?
Yes. Our simple films start from £950 for two hours of coverage, which suits a register office ceremony and portraits by the river.
How quickly will you reply?
Within one working day. Send us your date and venue and we will tell you if we are free.
