Manchester has a look all of its own: red-brick mills, cast-iron bridges over the canals, and a city that gets louder and friendlier as the evening goes on. We are a photography and film studio based in Beckenham. We have covered weddings in Manchester, and we travel north with the same team every time.
It is a city that suits an editorial, slightly cinematic style. Warehouse venues in Ancoats, grand hotels on Peter Street, a quick walk through the Northern Quarter for portraits, then back inside for the speeches. And when couples want green space instead, the Cheshire countryside is close by.
City venues and hotels
Popular venues include The Midland Hotel, Kimpton Clocktower and Great John Street Hotel in the city centre, and Victoria Baths in Longsight, an Edwardian bathhouse with tiled walls and stained glass that photographs beautifully. Castlefield’s canals and viaducts are a short walk from many city venues and make an easy setting for portraits.
Out to Cheshire
Plenty of Manchester couples marry just south of the city. Popular venues include Colshaw Hall and Peckforton Castle, with lawns, long drives and open views. We know this part of the country: one of our own films is a Hindu wedding in Cheshire, and there are more on our Hindu wedding films page.
Many communities
Greater Manchester is home to large South Asian communities around Rusholme, Longsight and beyond, one of the biggest Jewish communities in the country in Prestwich and Whitefield, and a long Caribbean and African history in Moss Side and Hulme. We photograph and film nikahs and walimas, Jewish weddings from the bedeken to the hora, African weddings and fusion weddings that bring two families together.
Coming north
- Travel at cost. Travel is included within 50 miles of Beckenham. Manchester is a longer trip, so we add the real cost of the train or the drive, with no mark-up.
- We arrive the night before. For most Manchester weddings we stay over, so getting-ready photographs and film start on time, not after a dawn motorway run.
- Several days, one team. For multi-day Asian weddings we stay for the whole celebration and price each event separately.
Photography and film, together
Our wedding photography starts from £830 and our wedding films from £1,430, or £2,180 for the two together. One team covers both, so there is one plan and one set of people to get to know. See our collections, or look at Leeds and Sheffield if you are marrying across the Pennines.
Your questions, answered
Is Manchester too far for a London-based studio?
No. We have covered weddings in Manchester and plan the travel as part of the job. Travel is quoted at cost and we stay nearby, so you get the same coverage as a wedding close to home.
Will the rain spoil our city portraits?
Rarely. Arches, covered streets and wet cobbles under street lamps can look even better than sunshine. We always have a dry option close to your venue.
Do you cover Jewish weddings in north Manchester?
Yes. We cover the bedeken, the chuppah, the yichud and the hora, and we work within the guidance of your rabbi and your synagogue.
