Croydon is one of the most varied places to get married in London. Its town centre is all tower blocks and trams, but the south of the borough opens into golf courses, hills and woodland, and the weddings here are as mixed as the people who live here.
We are based in Beckenham, a short drive or a direct tram ride away, so Croydon is very much our patch.
Big days, many cultures
Croydon has long-established South Asian, African and Caribbean communities, and many of the weddings in the borough are large, family-centred celebrations over more than one day. We photograph and film them all, with the same care for the details: the mehndi and the sangeet, the Hindu ceremony under the mandap, the anand karaj at the gurdwara, the nikah and the walima, and African weddings with a traditional ceremony and a white wedding side by side.
For these days one team covering both photography and film really helps. We plan around family schedules, know when to step back during prayers, and are still on the dance floor when the music gets going. See our pages on Asian weddings and Sikh wedding films for how we cover each part of the day.
Where couples marry
- Country house hotels. Popular venues include Selsdon Park Hotel and Coulsdon Manor, both with grounds that make portraits easy.
- Historic houses. Couples marrying at Addington Palace have a grand interior and parkland in one place.
- The register office. Croydon register office suits smaller civil ceremonies before a family meal. See civil ceremonies.
- Croydon Minster. The old parish church in the town centre, for church weddings with real history.
Light and location
Addington Hills has one of the best views across London from the south, and it is lovely at golden hour if the timing works. Lloyd Park and the woods around Selsdon give softer, greener backdrops. Many Croydon receptions are held in large halls and banqueting suites, so we bring quiet lighting for the evening and shoot our films on cinema cameras that cope well in low light.
Photography starts from £830 and film from £1,430. See our collections, or our London and Bromley pages.
Your questions, answered
Can you cover a wedding over several days?
Yes. Many Asian and African weddings run over two or three days, from the mehndi or haldi to the reception. We plan coverage for each event and quote the days together.
Do you know the customs of our ceremony?
We photograph and film weddings of every faith and culture, and we always ask about your family’s own traditions before the day, because customs differ from family to family.
Is travel to Croydon included?
Yes. Travel is included within 50 miles of Beckenham, which covers all of Croydon.
