Harrow is one of the most varied boroughs in London, and its weddings reflect that. A Gujarati wedding with a full day of rituals, a Tamil ceremony that starts early in the morning, a Jewish wedding in Stanmore, a short civil ceremony followed by lunch with family: we photograph and film all of them, with one team for both.
Our studio is in Beckenham, on the other side of the city, so we plan the journey with care and always arrive early. Harrow is well within our travel radius, along with Pinner, Stanmore, Kenton, Wealdstone, Rayners Lane and the streets around Harrow on the Hill.
Getting married in Harrow
Civil ceremonies are arranged through the Harrow register office, and for many couples that short, legal ceremony is one part of a longer celebration with a religious ceremony on another day. We cover the signing and the walk out quietly, then follow you on to lunch, portraits or the evening. Our page on civil ceremonies explains how we work in register offices, where the rules on photography and filming vary.
Popular venues include the Grim’s Dyke Hotel in Harrow Weald, a Victorian house set in woodland and gardens, and Byron Hall in Harrow, a banqueting venue that suits larger receptions. On the hill itself, St Mary’s Church and the old streets around it give you views across London for portraits.
Big days, many cultures
Harrow has large Gujarati, Tamil, Punjabi, Somali, Irish and Polish communities, and a long-established Jewish community around Stanmore and Edgware. Many weddings here run over several days, from a mehndi or sangeet to the ceremony and the reception. We cover Hindu weddings with the pheras around the mandap, Sikh weddings with the laavan at the gurdwara, nikahs and walimas, Jewish weddings under the chuppah, church weddings and fusion weddings that bring two families together.
- Share the running order. For a multi-day wedding, a simple plan of each event helps us bring the right team to each one, and quote each event separately.
- Tell us the rules of the temple or hall. We follow each place’s guidance on where we stand, what we wear and when we stay back.
- Plan the family photographs. At a big Asian wedding, a written list and one cousin who knows everyone saves a great deal of time.
Hills, parks and quiet corners
Harrow is greener than many people expect. Harrow on the Hill has narrow lanes, old brick and wide views, and Harrow Weald and Stanmore have commons and woodland a short drive from most venues. Pinner has a small high street with timber-framed buildings that suits a relaxed walk after a civil ceremony. We look for shade on bright days and save the open ground for the softer light later on.
Traffic around the North Circular and the roads into Harrow can be slow on a Saturday, so we build extra time between getting ready, the ceremony and the venue. On a busy multi-day wedding, that small buffer keeps the day calm.
One team, photo and film
Most couples book photography and film together, so one team plans with you and works as one in the room. Photography starts from £830 and film from £1,430. See our collections, or our pages for North London, West London, Watford and Hertfordshire if your plans reach beyond the borough. For the wider city, see our London wedding photographer page.
Your questions, answered
Is travel included for a wedding in Harrow?
Yes. Travel is included within 50 miles of our studio in Beckenham, and the whole of Harrow is well inside that.
Can you cover a mehndi, a wedding and a reception on different days?
Yes. Many of the weddings we cover run over two or more days. We quote each event separately, so you only pay for the coverage you need, and you can book photography, film or both for each one.
Do you know the customs of a Gujarati or Tamil wedding?
We have photographed and filmed many Hindu weddings, and we still ask every family about their own order of rituals. Customs vary between families and communities, so a short call before the day means we are in the right place for each moment.
How soon will you reply to our enquiry?
Within one working day. Tell us your date and venue and we will confirm whether we are free.
