St Albans Wedding Photographer & Videographer

St Albans is a cathedral city with a market town’s heart. Roman walls, medieval streets, timber-framed inns and a great Norman abbey sit within a few minutes’ walk of each other, with open parkland running down to the river below.

We travel up from our studio in Beckenham by the M25, leaving plenty of time for the orbital, so we arrive early and calm. St Albans is well within our 50-mile travel radius, and we photograph and film weddings across the city and the villages around Harpenden, Wheathampstead and Redbourn.

Getting married in St Albans

Popular venues include Sopwell House, a Georgian country house hotel on the edge of the city, and St Michael’s Manor, with its lake and gardens close to Verulamium Park. Just outside the city, Tewin Bury Farm near Welwyn offers a relaxed, farmhouse feel by the river, and Hatfield House is a short drive east for couples who want a grand Jacobean setting.

Many couples marry in a church in one of the parishes around the city, or hold a civil ceremony arranged through Hertfordshire’s registration service, then head out to a hotel or barn for the reception. We plan the timings between the two with you, so travel never eats into your portraits.

Old streets and open parkland

The best thing about St Albans for photography is how much variety sits in a small space. A ten-minute walk can take you from brick and timber to the cathedral’s long flint walls, then down to the lake and lawns of Verulamium Park. That makes it easy to fit a short portrait walk into the day without losing time with your guests.

  • Think about market days. The city centre is busy with the street market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so we plan quieter routes or earlier portraits on those days.
  • Use the park for golden hour. The open ground by the lake catches the evening light well, and it is close enough to slip away from a city-centre reception.
  • Check the rules for public spaces. Some grounds have their own guidance on photography and filming, so we look into it before suggesting a spot.

Weddings of every faith

St Albans and the wider county are home to families of many faiths and backgrounds, and plenty of weddings here run over more than one day. We photograph and film Hindu weddings, Sikh weddings, Jewish weddings and nikah celebrations, as well as fusion weddings that bring two traditions together. See our Asian weddings page for how we cover a mehndi, sangeet and reception as separate events.

Photography and film, together

One team can cover your wedding photography and wedding film, planned together so we work as one in the room rather than getting in each other’s way. Photography starts from £830 and film from £1,430. See all our collections.

On the day, our photographer works quietly and lets moments happen, while our filmmaker records the vows, speeches and sound of the room. Afterwards you receive an edited gallery and a film you will want to watch again, not just once.

Looking further afield? See our pages for Hertfordshire, Watford, Harrow, north London and London. Marrying south of the river? We also cover Guildford and Maidstone.

Your questions, answered

Is travel to St Albans included?

Yes. Travel is included within 50 miles of Beckenham, and St Albans and the villages around it are inside that. If your venue is further north, we quote travel at cost and tell you before you book.

Can you cover a ceremony in the city and a reception outside it?

Yes, and it is very common here. We travel between the two with you, and with photography and film booked together, one of us can stay with your guests while the other follows you.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer Saturdays go first, so it is worth checking our date as soon as your venue is confirmed. We reply within one working day.

Do you meet couples before the wedding?

Yes. We have a video call or meet in person to go through the plan, the timings and the people who matter most. Nearer the day we send a short questionnaire so nothing is left to chance.
