Kent is called the Garden of England for a reason. Orchards, hop gardens, oast houses and chalk hills give a Kent wedding a softer, slower feel than the city, and the county has more castles and manor houses than most couples ever get round to visiting.
Our studio in Beckenham sits right on the Kent border, so the west of the county is close to home and the coast is an easy morning’s drive.
Castles, barns and manors
- Castles. Popular venues include Leeds Castle near Maidstone, set on its own lake, and Lympne Castle, high above the Romney Marsh.
- Manor houses. Couples marrying at Chilston Park or Boughton Monchelsea Place have formal rooms, long views and gardens in one place.
- Barns. Cooling Castle Barn, on the Hoo Peninsula, is a favourite with couples who want timber beams and a relaxed evening.
For many more ideas, see our guide to wedding venues across Kent. If you are marrying near Sevenoaks, Hever or Westerham, our Sevenoaks page covers that corner of the county.
The Kent light
Country weddings live by the light. In spring the orchards are in blossom, in late summer the evening sun across open fields is the best time for portraits, and in autumn the woods turn gold early. Kent venues often have space for a proper golden hour walk, so we plan your timeline around sunset rather than squeezing portraits in. In winter, candlelit barns and castle halls come into their own.
Weddings of every culture
Kent is not only country house weddings. Gravesend has a large Sikh community and one of the largest gurdwaras in Britain, Guru Nanak Darbar, and the towns of north Kent see many Sikh, Hindu and African celebrations. We photograph and film weddings of every faith, from an anand karaj to a village church wedding. See our Sikh wedding films and Asian weddings.
One team covers both photography and film. Photography starts from £830 and film from £1,430. See our collections.
Your questions, answered
Is travel included anywhere in Kent?
Travel is included within 50 miles of our studio in Beckenham, which covers most of west, north and mid Kent. For venues further east or on the coast, we quote any extra travel at cost.
Do you need to stay over for a Kent wedding?
Rarely. Most Kent venues are an easy drive from Beckenham. For a very early start or a late finish far from home, we will talk it through with you first.
When is the best time for portraits at a country venue?
The hour before sunset, when the light is low and warm. We look up your sunset time and build the day around it, usually with a short walk between dinner and the speeches or the first dance.
