Hertfordshire sits just north of London, with stately homes, parkland, market towns and a cathedral city all within half an hour of each other. It is one of the most popular counties for weddings that need space, grandeur and easy travel for guests.
We travel up from our studio in Beckenham by the M25, so we always arrive early and leave time for traffic around the orbital. Most of the county is within our 50-mile travel radius.
Stately homes
Popular venues include Knebworth House, a Gothic mansion set in parkland, and Hatfield House, where the Tudor Old Palace hosts receptions. Couples marrying at Hanbury Manor or Fanhams Hall near Ware get Jacobean-style architecture and gardens, and Micklefield Hall near Rickmansworth suits a smaller, family-style day. In St Albans, the old streets and the cathedral make a lovely backdrop for a walk after a civil ceremony.
Large houses give us room to work: long corridors, staircases and big windows for portraits, and lawns where a whole family can gather for one photograph.
Weddings of every faith
Hertfordshire is home to many Hindu, Sikh and Jewish families, and some of the county’s best-known places of worship, including Bhaktivedanta Manor near Watford. Many celebrations here run over several days, from a mehndi or sangeet to the ceremony and reception. We photograph and film them all: see our pages on Hindu wedding films, Sikh wedding films, Jewish weddings and fusion weddings.
- Share the running order. For a multi-day wedding, a simple plan of each event helps us bring the right team to each one.
- Know the rules of the temple or gurdwara. We follow each place’s guidance on where we stand and what we wear.
- Leave time for family. Group photographs at a large Asian wedding work best with a list and someone who knows every aunt and uncle.
Photography and film, together
One team can cover your wedding photography and wedding film, planned together so nothing is missed. Photography starts from £830 and film from £1,430. See all our collections, or our London wedding photographer page if you are marrying in town.
Your questions, answered
Is travel to Hertfordshire included?
For most of the county, yes. Travel is included within 50 miles of Beckenham. For venues in the far north of Hertfordshire we may quote travel at cost, and we always tell you before you book.
Can you cover the mehndi and sangeet as well?
Yes. We quote each event separately, so you choose which days to cover and for how long.
Do you work at stately homes with strict rules?
Yes. Historic houses often have rules on confetti, candles and which rooms we can use. We read the venue’s guidance in advance and plan around it.
