Essex weddings know how to celebrate. Tudor halls and Norman castles, wide skies over farmland, estuary light along the coast, and receptions where the dance floor fills before the first song has finished.
We are based in Beckenham, south of the river, and cross into Essex by the Dartford Crossing or the Blackwall Tunnel. Venues in the south and west of the county are often closer to us than they look on the map.
Historic halls and castles
Essex has some of the most characterful historic venues in the South East. Popular choices include Layer Marney Tower, with its tall Tudor gatehouse, and Hedingham Castle, a Norman keep in the north of the county. Couples marrying at Leez Priory or Gosfield Hall have red brick, old timber and long lawns, while Down Hall near Hatfield Heath and Boreham House near Chelmsford suit a larger, more formal day.
These buildings can be dark inside, with small windows and panelled rooms. We bring quiet, flattering light for the evening, and our films are shot on cinema cameras that handle low light well, so the atmosphere stays as you remember it.
Big days, big families
Many Essex weddings are large and lively, with a long guest list and a full evening. Others run over several days. We photograph and film weddings of every faith and culture, including Asian weddings, African and Caribbean weddings, Jewish weddings, church weddings and fusion celebrations that bring two families together.
- Plan the group photographs. With a large family, a short list and a helper who knows everyone keeps them to twenty minutes.
- Think about the evening. If the party is the heart of your day, keep us on until the dancing is in full swing.
- Allow for the crossing. If guests are coming from Kent or south London, build some time in for traffic at Dartford.
Photography and film, together
One team can cover both your wedding photography and your wedding film, so the day is planned once and the speeches are covered from every angle without extra people in the way. Photography starts from £830 and film from £1,430. See all our collections, or our London wedding photographer page for venues closer to town.
Your questions, answered
Is travel to Essex included?
Travel is included within 50 miles of our studio in Beckenham, which covers much of south and west Essex. For venues further north or along the coast, we quote travel at cost and tell you the figure before you book.
Can you cover a large wedding with hundreds of guests?
Yes. For a big guest list we usually suggest a second photographer or filmmaker, so both families, the ceremony and the room are all covered at once.
Do you photograph historic venues with strict rules?
Yes. Many listed buildings have rules about lighting, confetti and where we can stand. We read the venue’s guidance before the day and work within it.
How soon will we hear back?
Within one working day. Send your date and venue and we will confirm availability and a price for your day.
