Bride at blue hour with city lights behind her

Brighton Wedding Photographer & Videographer

Brighton does weddings its own way. A Regency palace, a pier, pastel terraces, pebble beaches and the South Downs rising behind the city, with a crowd that always seems to cheer when a wedding party walks past.

We photograph and film weddings in Brighton and Hove from our studio in Beckenham, about an hour and a half down the A23. We like the city for its colour and its ease: nobody here minds what kind of wedding you have, as long as you enjoy it.

From pavilion to pier

Couples marrying at the Royal Pavilion get domes, dragons and painted ceilings, one of the most unusual wedding settings in the country. Brighton Town Hall hosts civil ceremonies close to the Lanes, which makes a short walk to lunch or drinks very easy. Many couples also choose a seafront hotel, a restaurant in Hove, or a barn or farm on the edge of the South Downs.

Brighton has always welcomed same-sex couples, and its weddings are some of the most relaxed and personal we see. We cover civil ceremonies, intimate weddings and elopements, church weddings and fusion celebrations with the same care.

Sea light

The seafront faces south, so the light changes all day and the sun sets over the water to the west, towards the ruins of the West Pier. That last hour, and the blue hour after it, is when the seafront looks its best.

  • Expect wind. It is almost always breezy by the sea, so veils and hair need a plan. A sheltered street a block back is never far away.
  • Use the Lanes. Narrow streets, painted shopfronts and North Laine’s colour work well on grey days too.
  • Mind the crowds. The seafront is busy on a summer weekend. Early evening and the quieter stretch towards Hove are calmer.

Small days, simple films

Brighton suits a small wedding: a register office ceremony, a walk on the seafront and a long lunch. Our minimum is two hours, and simple wedding films start from £950. For a full day, one team can cover your photography and film: photography starts from £830 and film from £1,430. See all our collections, or our Surrey wedding photographer page if you are marrying on the way down.

Your questions, answered

Do you charge for travel to Brighton?

Travel is included within 50 miles of our studio in Beckenham. Brighton sits right at the edge of that, so for some venues we may add travel at cost. We always confirm the figure in your quote.

Can we have portraits on the beach?

Yes. The beach is public and quick, informal portraits are usually fine. Pebbles are hard going in heels, so we often stay on the promenade or the groynes and keep it short.

Do you photograph same-sex weddings?

Of course. Every wedding is simply a wedding to us, and we plan yours around the two of you, your families and the way you want the day to feel.
