Intimate Weddings and Elopements

Some of the most moving weddings we have photographed had twelve guests. A small wedding is not a lesser wedding: every glance, every hand held, every word of the vows is right there in front of the camera.

Whether it is the two of you and two witnesses, a register office ceremony followed by lunch with family, or an elopement somewhere wild, we will photograph and film it with the same care we bring to a three-day celebration. Coverage starts at two hours, which is often all an intimate ceremony and some unhurried portraits need.

London register offices we know well

London’s register offices are some of the most beautiful ceremony rooms in the country, and each has its own rhythm: ceremonies are short, the next couple is often waiting, and the best portrait spots are a short walk away. From Chelsea Old Town Hall to Marylebone, we plan your day so nothing is rushed: arriving early for details and family, covering the ceremony and signing, then taking you out onto the King’s Road or into a quiet garden square for portraits. For larger civil ceremonies at hotels and approved venues, see our civil ceremony weddings.

A two-hour wedding, unhurried

  • Arrivals. We arrive before you do, find the light and photograph your guests as they gather.
  • The ceremony. Your vows, rings and first kiss, covered quietly, with no flash and always within the registrar’s guidance.
  • The signing. The register, your witnesses and the moment it becomes official.
  • Confetti and family. The steps outside, then a short list of family groups, done quickly.
  • Portraits. A relaxed walk to a nearby street or garden square, guided rather than posed.

If you are going on to lunch or dinner, add the hours you need and we will stay for the toasts and speeches.

Elopements and small celebrations

  • Register office ceremonies across London, Kent and Surrey, from two hours.
  • Restaurant and private-dining receptions, photographed discreetly.
  • Elopements in the UK and abroad: see our destination weddings.
  • A simple film of your ceremony and speeches, so the words are never forgotten.
  • A legal ceremony now and a larger religious or cultural celebration later, such as a nikah, a church blessing or a fusion wedding, covered together if you would like.

Planning a small wedding

  • Arrive early. Register office ceremonies run to the minute. Ask your guests to arrive at least fifteen minutes before your slot so nobody misses the start.
  • Ask about the rules. Each registrar has their own guidance on photography and filming during the legal declarations and the signing. We check on the day and work within it.
  • Keep your family list short. With a small group, five or six family photographs are usually plenty, and leave more time for portraits.
  • Think about the light. A late-afternoon ceremony in spring or autumn, or early afternoon in winter, gives you soft light for portraits afterwards.

What you receive

A sneak peek within days, then your full gallery, every image individually edited, usually within four weeks, in a private online gallery to share and download. Films follow within two to three months, depending on the season. Albums are available if you would like your day in print.

Your questions, answered

What is your minimum booking?

Two hours, which suits most register office ceremonies, intimate weddings and elopements. You can add more time for lunch, dinner or a party.

Is it worth having a photographer for a very small wedding?

We think so. With fewer guests, there are fewer phones and fewer people to remember the day for you. A short booking means you have beautiful photographs of the ceremony, your family and the two of you, without a big outlay.

Can you act as our witness?

We are there to photograph and film, so it is best to bring two witnesses of your own. If that is difficult, ask your register office what they allow before the day.

Do you photograph elopements abroad?

Yes. Your coverage is priced as it is at home, with travel and accommodation added at cost. See our destination weddings.
